New Years Eve at Cedar Shore Resort

Laughter explodes this New Year's Eve at Cedar Shore Resort. Join us for a comedy blast December 31, 2009 from 9:45 pm to midnight as comedian Paul LaKamp opens for headlining comedy act John DeBoer.

Tickets are $20 advance, $25 at the door. Package price includes one night stay at the hotel, dinner for two, two tickets to the comedy show and are $149.95 for a hillside room and $169.95 for a riverside room.

John's Bio: It has been said, there are only two ways you can go in life after making a mistake. Learn from it and move on or don’t learn from it and and stay where you are. John DeBoer has chosen a third route: Write a joke about it and share it with the masses.
His nerve-hitting show flows from the devious side of childhood to the never-ending pressures of our times. His twisted observations of life, the world around him, and particularly how he has managed to screw it up, have earned John a reputation as one of the most consistently strong acts wherever he goes.

Watching John on stage takes the audience on a roller coaster of seeing their own blunders or faux pas’, and then being compelled to laugh at them. Falling somewhere between "The Next John DeBoer of Comedy", and "the best you can do on short notice", he takes us on a ride we’ve all been on, yet somehow failed to see the humor in the first time through.
With the seemingly limitless media choices these days, you have to be pretty big to be a household name. Having appeared at comedy clubs, colleges, three federal penitentiaries, the Daytona 500 Experience, as well as on Comedy Central, and in national TV commercials, and a brief (very brief, yet heartwarming) shot on Last Comic Standing, John DeBoer might be the funniest comedian you never heard of.

John's opening act, Paul LaKamp: If you think you've had your share of bad days, come spend a night with Paul LaKamp. From a kid with potential on the West Coast to being a pizza delivery man in the Midwest, Paul can only describe his life as one endless revolving door of a bad day. Most people, which Paul is not, move west for stardom. Paul moved east for stardom. His debut was made with a semi-finalist finish in the Funniest Person in the Twin Cities contest and he's been delivering therapy sessions to audiences, in the form of his own every day problems ever since. He will enlighten your life with the absurdity of his own and have you laughing for more. Come see Paul before his luck changes!

Light Bulbs and Coffee Cups

Light bulbs and coffee cups. What do these two things have in common?

They are both ways we are extending our efforts to "be more green". We replaced all our lights bulbs for the new energy efficient bulbs. The Resort is also getting rid of all Styrofoam cups, and instead offering paper cups for our guests who are on the run and cant use ceramic cups. We are also encouraging all our employees to bring coffee cups from home to use.

Oh the fun we had at Ladies Great Escape!!!!

The Cedar Shore Annual Ladies Great Escape was held last weekend, and boy did we have fun!!!

We are pretty sure from the amount of dancing, hollering, and shopping that everyone else did too!!! We started it off Friday night with our pajama party. Every 15 minutes we gave out door prizes. Chelsea's Boutique began rocking the night with a fun, exciting fashion show. Full of energy, the girls modeled the newest fashions for the PJ Party attendees.

The Golden Girls bounced on stage next and gave a hilarious performance. The ladies then made a bee line to the conference center where most of the vendors had set up early for "One Hour of Shopping in your PJ's". Thanks for the sneak peek!

After settling back in, "Elvis" made the ladies swoon by singing many favorites and dancing with several of the girls!

The night ended (with our planned activities anyway) with karaoke and guitar Hero.
Saturday was a day filled with shopping and speakers. The exhibit hall opened at 9 am for shopping and Continental breakfast. We were so very fortunate to have Julie Clark, founder of the Inspirational Coffee Club, as our main speaker. Thanks to Sanford Health for sponsoring her!! Her warm nature was comforting yet motivational, and she gave us all some great in site on living your life to the fullest.

Doctors from Sanford Health were gracious enough to do panel discussions, answering any questions the ladies had about women's' health, vascular health, and cardiology. Not only did it provide us a chance to get to know these doctors better, but we also got advice...for free!!

Near the end of the day, we awarded and amazing 60 door prizes donated by the vendors, and the grand prize of a set of chocolate pearl earrings and matching necklace donated by Riddles Jewelry of Sioux Falls.

Thanks to Budweiser Sales and Republic Beverage, the day was ended with free beer and wine samples....yum!!!! Thanks Boys!!!

Fishing on the River

Breaking News!!!!
The water is open. Boats are now getting on the river. Although, the Cedar Shore marina is not yet open, the ice has broken enough across the river for boats to get on the water. With the warm weather we've been having, fisherman are itching to get some walleye in the boat.
It is quite a week here, while boats are out in the main current, people are still ice fishing in our marina cove!
That's South Dakota for you....."The Land of Infinite Variety!"
