River Kids Fest

We had so much fun at River Kids Fest. This is always held the second weekend in August (Aug. 9th this year). Our Recreational Intern, Ida VandeWalle, organized the events with help with the rest of our office staff. She brought in something new this year, Stackers. The children, (and even some of us adults) were fascinated in how fast our demonstrators could stack and unstack those cups!

This year, our biggest hits seemed to be the characters that visited the resort. Sponge Bob Square Pants handed out finger printing kits, Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head danced around while the kids made their own potato heads, and, last, but not least, "Hannah Montana" passed out ice cream treats to all the kids. You should have heard the screams when "Hannah" walked out onto the yard! Parents got out the cameras to take pictures of their children with all the characters. It was a lot of fun!

We had an inflatable bouncer and an inflatable water slide which was another big hit. I know from personal experience, that it was a blast!

Xtreme Cheerleading put on a mini camp, and the girls performed at the end. It was really cute!

We had too many fun things to write about each, but here is a list of some other things we did: water balloon target launch; tattoo parlor; story time; crafts; free paddle boats; police car, fire truck, and ambulance tours; mini train rides, Freddy the Clown made animals balloons, and face painting! Of course we had our Waterfront Buffet along with our regular deck menu for outside dining. The South Hand Band played on the deck, and young and old danced away.

This really is a wonderful event as almost everything is FREE!!! (thanks Modern Woodmen, The Cozard Library & the local emergency crews) Where else can you have so much fun with your children close to home!
Same weekend next year! See you there!
